Your Donation Makes Real Change Possible
Government shutdowns have already cost taxpayers tens of billions and caused real hardship for federal workers, military families, and everyday Americans—yet members of Congress have historically continued to receive full pay, often with back pay afterward. That must end.
Your support powers a focused, nonpartisan movement to end this double standard. We are committed to using every dollar wisely and transparently:
80%+ of funds will go directly to mission-critical activities — building and maintaining our grassroots platform (www.shutdownpay.org), operating the open letter platform, conducting targeted outreach with members of Congress and aligned organizations in Washington, D.C. and across the nation, producing educational materials, securing no-shutdown-pay pledges from Congress, and advancing our proposed 28th Amendment.
Administrative costs will be kept minimal — only what is necessary for basic operations (e.g., compliance, minimal staff support, website hosting). We will not waste resources on lavish expenses or overhead. Every expenditure will be carefully reviewed by our board to ensure it advances the No Shutdown Pay for Congress goal of congressional accountability.
First 1,000 supporters from each U.S. state who give $100 or more will be designated as Founding Donors.
Amending the U.S. Constitution is one of the toughest challenges in the American political system. In more than 235 years, only 27 amendments have ever been ratified, including the Bill of Rights.
In order to propose a Constitutional amendment, the House of Representatives and the Senate must approve the amendment by a two-thirds vote OR Congress must receive applications from two-thirds (34) of state legislatures in support of a single amendment. Any amendment must then be ratified by three-fourths (38) of the 50 states, requiring broad, bipartisan national support in order to become law of the land.
Achieving this reform will require persistent, strategic work: building overwhelming public support, securing bipartisan pledges, refining language with lawmakers, and driving state-level momentum for ratification. Your donation helps fuel that long-term effort.
This is your chance to be part of history. Shutdowns hurt real people and waste billions—yet they persist because the system allows it. Your gift today turns frustration into focused pressure for lasting change. Donate TODAY to help us prove that "We the People" demand better from our leaders.
